God's Plan for Civil Government – Part 18 from Lesson 9 -
Foundation Number 1

Foundation 1: God is Sovereign

As the Creator there should be no question that God is Sovereign and is the ruler of the universe. Genesis 1:1:

Verse	King James Version
1	In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

God, the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit, created the heavens and the earth. As the creator, all belongs to God. As the Creator all men are subject to God. This includes kings, princes or lesser magistrates.

John 1:3

Verse	King James Version
3	All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The Gospel of John reveals out that everything made was made through Jesus.

Matthew 28:18

Verse	King James Version
18	And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

God is Sovereign and all power and authority on earth was given to Jesus. All authority granted to man in any capacity is derived from and subject to Jesus. There is no authority except that derived from Jesus.
