God's Plan for Civil Government – Part 1 - Introduction

In January through April of 2012 I led a Bible Study on the Bible and Civil Government. It lasted 13 weeks. These lessons are being posted on a website: https://bibleandcivilgovernment.com.

Part 1 Introduction

I am a Christian; Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I am not a pastor, deacon and am not ordained. This study is not presented as being an authority on Scripture, but based upon personal study and being called by the Holy Spirit.

It most certainly is not a sermon and hopefully will be a learning experience for all of us, including me.

Questions are welcome at any point with one reservation. If the question is covered in detail later in the study, will ask for your patience.

Summary of our current situation

Very few disagree that we are facing troubling times, not just economically but spiritually as well. This includes our government, which will be referenced as civil government in this study.

Our current civil government is moving away from God and Christianity at an alarming rate.

• The thousands of Ten Commandment displays erected by our ancestors are being removed one by one.
• Christmas is being replaced by Happy Holidays.
• Nativity Scenes are being prohibited.
• Christianity is being removed from schools, colleges, political campaigns, news and just about every facet of our lives in which government is involved.
• The tax structure which began based upon Biblical principles has moved away from such and our tax dollars are being used for many un Biblical purposes.
• Sanctity of life has been abandoned.
• Marriage is being redefined.
• Education which began as Biblically inspired - increasingly ignores both God and the Bible or even prohibits the mention of Jesus.

This list could go on for a while, each person could probably add to the list. Let it suffice to say that we are facing troubling times and that our civil government at all levels is failing.

In this age of technology - we live in a time of ignorance - ignorance of our history, ignorance of our heritage and most especially ignorance of the Bible.

Should we be surprised? If the people of this land are living in an era of Biblical illiteracy how can it be expected that officials will be chosen that understand God's Plan for civil government?

If they are not following God's plan for civil government - whose plan are they following?

So this study will start by demonstrating what we all know, that our land is living in a time of Biblical illiteracy.
